What is porcelain veneers?
Your dentist may recommend porcelain veneers to fix your stained, broken, worn or crooked teeth.
Similar to porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers can be applied in a manner similar to bonding, where the material is used to lighten stains, close gaps or to address crooked or malformed teeth. Porcelain veneers like porcelain crowns are much more durable and stain resistant than bonding.
The porcelain veneer is a thin piece of porcelain. It is bonded onto the tooth. The porcelain can be matched to the other teeth in a manner that it looks like a regular tooth. In addition, porcelain veneers have other attractive uses including altering the color of teeth or restoring teeth that have been ground down.
